Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is planning to make a film based on the true story of an American climber who hacked off part of his arm with a knife after it became trapped under a rock, it has emerged. According to Daily Variety, the Oscar winner will direct 127 Hours based on mountaineer Aron Ralston’’s ordeal in Utah’’s Blue John Canyon in 2003. Film director Danny Boyle has chosen his follow up project to his surprise box office and Oscar hit Slumdog Millionaire. According to trade paper Variety Thursday, the British millionaire is to direct 127 Hours, a film about Aron Ralston, the American mountaineer who made headlines the world over when he used a knife to sever his own arm after it became trapped under a boulder during a 2003 hike. Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is to make a film about the story of US mountaineer Aron Ralston. Ralston had his right forearm pinned for almost five days under a boulder during a climb in 2003. He then used a dull knife to amputate the limb and then scaled a 65-foot wall and hiked out before he found a family who gave him food and water. Boyle will be directing the movie and is now looking for an actor to play the lead. A row over funds set aside for two child stars of Slumdog Millionaire was fuelled by a warning given to their families to stop demanding upscale homes and cars.
