Hot Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood is a 2010 calendar created by excommunicated Mormon practitioner and Brigham Young University graduate Chad Hardy. The calendar features practicing Mormon women in pin-up poses that are meant to defy stereotypes that Mormons are stuffy and uptight.
Hot Mormon Muffins Calendar Features Sexy Mormon Moms, Muffin Recipes
Chad Hardy is, above all things apparently, an entrepreneur. When Hardy started selling the unexpectedly popular "Men on a Mission" calendar, featuring Mormon beefcakes recently returned from church-required missions, he suffered the consequences.

Not only did the Mormon stronghold of Brigham Young University deny Hardy's degree a month after he participated in the graduation ceremony, but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) full-on excommunicated him. That's no small thing in a church that encourages followers to disconnect from wayward family members. But did Chad Hardy repent and try to get back into the church's good graces? Nope. He just got cracking on another hot calendar idea -- this time featuring the female side of the church.
Hardy's new calendar, "Hot Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood," features LDS women in sexy pin-up style poses celebrating both their outer beauty and their family values by including favorite recipes for tasty muffins. There's no way he's not going to make money on this thing. And obviously the church is not going to be amused.

The Associated Press reports that church spokesperson Kim Farah declined to comment on the new calendar Monday. But if the church was angry enough to excommunicate Hardy, it would appear likely that the 12 moms (ranging in age from 26 to 53) appearing in "Hot Mormon Muffins" will have to watch out.
At least one of the models has already expressed her defiance. Tami Roberts, 35, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, said she did the calendar, in part, because she wants her 3 daughters to "know that everybody is not the same and it's OK to make your own choices." Roberts read about the "Men on a Mission" calendar last year, and decided that she wanted to be a part of the new project after reading about Hardy's punishment.
"That made me mad, I did not agree with that," the cover model said. "The pictures are tasteful, and it's fun. I don't see why people can't have a sense of humor. I just don't think it's a big deal."

I think you should maybe try to get a few more facts. As a longtime member of the LDS church, I find in hard to believe his membership was threatened just by publishing a calendar of any sort. You might also want to correct that members are not asked to "disconnect" from excommunicated members. THe opposite is true. Also, the church does not "require" young men and/or women to serve missions for the church.
I also wanted to point out that church members are not encouraged to "disconnect from wayward family members". If anything we are encouraged to hold strong to our families no matter what.
I am sorry that these people feel a need to defy their church leaders. Yes, we believe in individuality, but we believe the body is a temple and is sacred. There is extreme safety in doing what the mainstream of mormons do and say. If Jesus Christ would pose in such a calendar then by all means it would be permissable for somebody else to pose in the calendar. After all, aren't we commanded to be like He is? Since I don't think Jesus would do such a thing then I don't think anyone that considers themselves "good" mormons should do it either.
I agree with lunarover and wyomingmom ! Try coming to some meetings before you say things like that. Some members may act like they are better than others but it does not reflect what the church portrays.
lunarover, he actually was excommunicated from the church, whether or not you find it hard to believe. And he was also denied his diploma from BYU, all because of his calendar. You can read the AP report if you don't believe the story here.
Miriam is not LDS. I know this for a fact. I can't help but think none of the others are either.
I think Jesus would pose in a calendar if it brought more people to Christ
Lunarover and Wyomingmom are correct. As for Ornery75, the Church has said time and time again that we have our Agency which means we do what we feel is right, we have a choice to do what we want knowing their our consequences for our actions. Personally I don't see anything wrong with what they have done. They are clothed and even though they are showing some skin, it is tasteful. Now, if they were scantily clad, in sexually provocative poses and such, that would be a different story.
kinghq1, Whats so tasteful about someone licking the muffin pan ? Your calling that tasteful ? U serious ?
Wow, you can sure find some mentally ill people out there! To LUNAROVER, umm, what part of "every worthy young man is expected to fulfill a full-time mission.." did you not understand? And to the other crackpot, would Jesus drink a coke? Go to a football game? Take kids trick-or-treating? Go to a waterslide? (has to wear shorts) Eat pizza? Work on a car? Buy groceries? Buy tubesocks? Wear tennis shoes? Shave? Have a hobby? Fix a roof? Run a business? Weld? Listen to the radio? Go on vacation? Vacuum? Go out to eat? Buy office supplies? NO?????? Well, then maybe you shouldn't do those things either. Take that into your mentally ill mind and chew on it, drive yourself crazy. To everyone else who poops their pants over this, i guess you can't go to the wavepool anymore cause people are wearing less there than on the calendar. Frikken' lighten up and find a sense of humor. go out and see a movie with a friend. the devil won't eat you if you go outside.
Bubbaloo, what part of the sentence 'does not "require" young men and/or women to serve missions for the church ' don't you get ? Nobody is expected to do anything. Its a choice. Flat out. So go try and spin something else. Go justify your crack addiction to some other board.
Here we go again with "Religion" getting between peoples business, why not put some of Gods creation(POT)in the muffins, that should change everybodys minds. I don't have to go to a church or live under some authorities thumb to worship GOD, he is in my heart always regardless of lifes direction. If "THE ESTABLISHED RELIGIONS" are so great why is there so much dissension among them? many seem to cause more damage than saving...
mormons all need to quit being so goddamn hypocritical of everyone who isnt a mormon. they talk crap on everyone who doesnt abide by their rules and beliefs and too me i think that's wrong.
After reading all of these comments, it seems to me that the hated is coming from the non-mormons. Why the attacks people? They did not attack you or any other religion, they stated facts of the Mormon church. Yes Chad Hardly may have been dropped from the church rolls; you and I will never know the real reason for this, and it should not be bothered by it either; this is for his salvation and not your or mine. When you use demeaning words to expires your feelings you are losing all respect from the readers. Not everyone has the same standards, we all have right to our options - be respectful !
be respectful???? maybe they should think about being respectful to people opinions???? everybody is different and has different views inside there church. they need to understand it. dont be stupid. and its chard HARDY!!!! not chad hardly dumbass.
Swearing only makes you look like a classless, uneducated fool because you can't find the brainpower to come up with some Real words to express what you are trying to say.
I am LDS, and this bothers, me as well as the others, because we KNOW first hand how untrue about 90 percent of this article is, first of all,I will comment on the "required to serve missions"
I have THREE brothers One of which chose NOT to go on a mission, he was never ex-communicated or told he had too. My Dad didn't either, and he has since been married in the temple, served in several callings including bishoprics. There was no life changing backlash that would come from defying a "requirement" that is set down by any organization.
Now for the "dis-connect from wayward family memebers".
I have a sibling who at a young age chose a very different life than the one my parents where raising him to live. He did drugs, was a very young drunk, stole, lied, he was mean and constantly picking fights, had problems with the law. He had a son out of wedlock ( which yes, sue me, we believe is not the best life for either a single parent NOR especially the child), and now lives with a girlfriend. He was never kicked out of our home. Never asked to not come to church. Never made to feel unwelcome or that he was evil. He STILL holds his church membership that began when he was baptized at the age of 8, though he is NOT an active member. Do you really think that out of millions of people no one would say "uh, screw you people" if they were told to push away their children, spouses, siblings, parents or close friends because they weren't considered good enough? We are given guidelines to follow to SAVE us from the life I just described, those drugs, the booze, the sleeping around, and partying did nothing to fulfill my brothers life, most of the time he was just plain miserable, and yet he had nothing to be unhappy about, my parents provided for him well, he was given love, education and opportunities, but the choices he made left nothing but unhappiness. I love him, he has always been a good brother, but only a good example of a life I have no desire in living. I would never push him away for his faults, because I really hope that someday, they will make him a stronger man, and a better example to his own son.
And last, for the half-wit who said that they were in no way suggestive.....?..why bother then, do you think they would even SELL?! No, we live in a world that is dominated by sexual stimuli's, everywhere, tv, commercials, movies, magazines, fashion. This guy found his area, he thinks..and probably rightfully so.. that there are people who would be attracted or turned on, by looking at photos of women who are supposedly wholesome, good bakers, and homemakers In morally compromising outfits and situations.
And to answer the person who ranted about what christ would do..Actually YES, if he lived in our time, he probably WOULD change the oil, go to the store, fix a roof etc. After all in HIS time he was only a "lowly" carpenter, he didnt boss around workers and preach at them, he got his hands dirty, worked hard and honest and did what needed to be done to help and provide for himself and his family.
And no, there is most positively a missing peice to this story because you do not get "kicked out" for being an annoying money grubbing moral less dirtbag...as easy as that would seem, the church doesnt take the 'easy' way when it comes to a choice that could be detrimental the salvation of their members.
