Characterizing Johnny Weir: Pop Star on Ice as a "queer" film at the 2009 Vancouver International Film Festival is a bit of misnomer for although there is an assumption that Weir is gay, in the end the movie is more about Weir's turn on ice skates in his sequined costumes than actually getting to know what makes him tick.
