Mitt Romney's 'Mom Jeans', on the campaign trail.
GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney is trying to connect with voters by dressing down in jeans and plaid shirts. But are his 'mom jeans' terribly out of style? We've collected the photos so you can decide.

Check out Mitt Romney's 'Mom Jeans'.

Mitt Romney is a very rich man on a mission to appeal to everyday Republican voters the only way he knows how: By wearing ill-fitting dungarees. Whether the tactic is working or not, the default party frontrunner has made himself look cringeworthy at a few photo ops with pants that can only be described as, you guessed it, Mom Jeans.

Former presidential nominee, U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) (R) announced that he is endorsing Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney during a town hall meeting at Central High School January 4, 2012 in Manchester, New Hampshire. Mitt fans could console themselves during the Iowa Caucus by saying Mitt's mom jeans were just his way of trying to appeal to Midwest voters. But as you can see here, it looks like John McCain wasn't the only Republican disappointed to see him still wearing his faded denim when he got to New Hampshire a few days later.

As Mitt Romney worked to win over more and more conservative voters in Iowa, his waist just got higher and higher. If the caucus campaign had gone on any longer we fully suspect we would have seen Mitt in the latest nipple-high Wrangler fashions.

Back in March, 2011, the Los Angeles Times noted Mitt's wardrobe shift after he had been photographed in a pair of Gap Skinny Jeans his wife, Ann, bought for him. If you notice a picture where Mitt's jeans fit in a manner you might consider normal, that's probably Ann's doing.

Part of Mitt's new signature look is that classy metal-tipped belt he cinches ever-so-tightly about his waist. Sure this look says "unfashionable bumpkin," but we'd like to see him fully embrace his rural look with a nice big belt buckle emblazoned with, "MITT 2012."

The 2008 presidential campaign brought us Joe the Plumber. Perhaps 2012 will find Republicans wooing Bob the Builder. Mitt took a first step in that direction when he tried to look just like the steel workers at Missouri Valley Steel during a campaign stop in Sioux City, Iowa. At least he didn't wear a hard hat.

We can't say for certain, but it's a safe bet Mitt's making that face because he just noticed the kid in the back holding up a sign that reads, "We Heart Mom Jeans."

Just look at the way Mitt Romney handles his throngs of ardent supporters. This young voter is clearly impressed not only with Mitt's aura of success, but also his perfectly pressed denim. It's hard to argue with a man who irons his jeans.
