Lampre N.G.C. (or LAM) is an Italian cycling team competing in the Tour de France.
The team consists mostly of Italian riders, and has a strong presence in the grand tours, especially the Giro d'Italia. The manager Giuseppe Saronni was himself a famous professional cyclist and former winner of the Giro d'Italia. The directeur sportif is Giuseppe Martinelli.
Following the tradition at Saeco, the team is well-known for its publicity stunts. In the 2005 Giro d'Italia the team engaged in a press campaign Battaile d'Italia featuring their co-captains Gilberto Simoni and Damiano Cunego.
Team: Lampre Bikes: Wilier Triestina Cento Uno / Cento Chrono for TT While Lampre is in the business of making rolled steel, it sponsors a team that rolls fast on Wilier's carbon monocoque frames. Wilier is a lesser-known (in the U.S.), century-old Italian cycling brand well reflected in the team's Italian squad, including current World Champion Alessandro Ballan (look for Ballan to race a custom-painted Cento Uno to reflect this status). Once again Wilier's Cento Uno (new in 2008) will be the standard steed of Lampre riders, who will race on Fulcrum Racing Zero and Racing Speed wheels with carbon rims, but will swap ...

Veteran German sprinter Danilo Hondo will return to the big leagues next season after inking a deal to join Lampre.
Hondo, 35, has been at the fringes of the sport since he tested positive for carphedon, a banned stimulant, in the 2005 Vuelta a Murcia. He was fired by his then-team Gerolsteiner and served a one-year ban.
Hondo denied wrong-oing but eventually served out his ban only to find major teams hesitant to sign him up. He rode for...
Teams, riders, results, oh my! Here is the second part of the monster Chris created last week, an overview of the teams after the transfer season is all-but closed. The list follows no particular order, because that would be far, far too organized. Okay, let’s go.
Lampre-Vini Farnese
v. 2009. It was a forgettable season for Lampre this year. World Champion Alessandro Ballan lost most of his season to illness, and left Lampre with...
Spain and Italy have forged a healthy rivalry in the men's world championship road race, with four wins apiece this past decade. But both were left behind to watch on Sunday as Cadel Evans soloed away to claim the latest rainbow jersey on offer.
Thanks to Paolo Bettini in 2006 and 2007, and Alessandro Ballan in 2008, Italy has been the team to beat of late. Damiano Cunego, second to Ballan last year, was hoping to make it four straight wins...
The team of Mario Galbusera and Giuseppe Saronni add three new riders to their program and resign Francesco Gavazzi to join Damiano Cunego and Alessandro Petacchi et. al. As the season ends and Lampre-NGC's general manager Saronni is reaching ...
Just a quick post on a rare day off -- from work, kids, etc., (translation: ride!) -- to ask the question that is on a lot of minds in the peloton just now. You can bet it's on Damiano Cunego's mind right now. He is well acquainted with the strength of Cadel Evans at the moment: Cunego was one of the protagonists struggling desperately to bridge up to Evans, in vain, over the last 3km of the Mendrisio course. Cunego, or his teammates, saw...
Damiano Cunego’s second stage victory at this year’s Vuelta a España shows he’ll be one of the riders to beat at the world championships later this month at Mendrisio.
His dramatic win up the steep La Pandera climb ahead of Jakob Fuglsang (Saxo Bank) only fuels his ambitions ahead of the worlds.
“The worlds is the top goal for me and the Vuelta is ideal preparation,” Cunego said. “These victories at the Vuelta confirm that I am enjoying...
ITALIAN Damiano Cunego claimed his second mountains victory of this year's Tour of Spain when he stamped his climbing prowess over the rain-hit 14th stage held over 157km from Grenada to La Pandera. Spanish race leader Alejandro Valverde of Caisse d ...
Damiano Cunego (Lampre) collected his second win of the 2009 Vuelta a España on Sunday atop the Alto Sierra de la Pandera.
Cunego jumped away from a crumbling nine-man break to climb the Pandera alone to victory as the battle for the overall was fought behind him. Fellow breakaway Jacob Fuglsang (Saxo Bank) hung on for second at 2:23, with a resurgent Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel-Euskadi) third at 3:08.
Race leader Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d...
