According to Wikipedia.org: Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the world's smallest continent and a number of islands in the Southern, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and the French dependency of New Caledonia to the northeast, and New Zealand to the southeast.

Wedgetail warplanes set for delivery

It's well over three years late and yet to achieve full operational capability, but the first two of the RAAF's Wedgetail airborne early warning aircraft will finally be delivered to Williamstown airbase next week. Five of the six aircraft due to be handed over to the air force are now in Australia, but a number of hurdles still have to be overcome before the $4 billion Wedgetail capability will achieve full mission status with the RAAF. The makers of the Venus razor for women, gathered more than one hundred and fifty Australian women together at First Fleet Park in Circular Quay yesterday, in an attempt to break the world record for the biggest ever limbo dance, and raise funds for breast cancer research. Originally setting out to beat the current world record of 1,150 held by Texas, the Venus Closest Limbo Line-up fell way short of the world record (well it was raining), so organisers had to be content with a new Australian record for the most number of people to dance their way under a limbo pole. Australian Navy destroyers closer to construction

The navy's three new air warfare destroyers have moved a step closer to construction with two companies announced as the preferred suppliers of the modules that will make up the ships' hulls. The Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance has selected NSW-based FORGACS Group and Cairns-based NQEA Australia Pty Ltd to build 70 per cent of the blocks at a cost of about $450 million. AWD Alliance chief executive officer John Gallacher said the selection of the two preferred suppliers was a major milestone in the $8 billion project. Read more Read Full Story

Boeing has delivered the first two Project Wedgetail 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).The aircraft were delivered during a ceremony at RAAF Base Williamtown, the main operating base for the Wedgetail fleet. Attending the ceremony were officials from the RAAF, the Defence Materiel Organisation and Boeing.
