John, Caroline and Jackie Kennedy I don’t know if you saw David Paterson on Larry King last night, but he was rather coy about who he would choose to replace Hillary Clinton. The only thing that he would say is that after Hillary is confirmed, which is expected to take place shortly after Barack Obama’s inauguration, he will make an announcement within days of the confirmation. Caroline Kennedy is his pick. A political deal was made that David Paterson would have the Kennedy family support and potentially even Barack Obama’s. The most interesting part of the Paterson interview came when King was asking him ... Read Full Story

Two federal regulators who sounded early warnings about the financial crisis and a Liberian peace activist have been named the 2009 recipients of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Sheila Bair, chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., was one of the first to warn about the subprime lending crisis, and has urged direct assistance to distressed homeowners as part of the effort to stabilize the economy. She has also criticized management of the financial meltdown by Wall Street and the government. Brooksley Born, former chairwoman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, warned a decade ago that unregulated financial contracts, including credit ... Read Full Story

Caroline Kennedy shocked everyone by withdrawing her name from contention as a possibility to replace Hillary Clinton as the junior Senator from New York. Now, rumors of a possible affair with New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger have come around. Kennedy is reportedly known to be friends with Sulzberger, and rumors of an affair between the two started earlier this month. Sulzberger is pictured here. Earlier this week, Kennedy notified Governor David Paterson that she no longer wanted to be considered for the vacant Senate seat in New York. Caroline cited "personal problems" and reports surfaced yesterday that the problems involved taxes and a ... Read Full Story

That is why Linnea and I are writing to urge you to join Barack Obama's campaign for President. There are pivotal moments in history when the right decision by a nation can change its course for the better -- opening up new paths before us and providing future generations with opportunities that we had not thought possible. The Senate confirmed Hillary Clinton today as Secretary of State 94-2. The two Senators who declined to vote for her were Jim DeMint , R-South Carolina, and David Vitter, R-Louisiana. Senator John Cronyn R-Texas had objected to her confirmation to force a full Senate vote by roll call, which delayed her confirmation by one day. Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, urged her quick confirmation and essentially endorsed her. Senator McCain and Senator Graham called for Republicans to support her, which was a moment of bi-partisanship that is greatly appreciated. Hillary Clinton will be sworn in tomorrow as Secretary of State, which means that Governor of ... Read Full Story

Maureen Dowd's New York Times column this week details the fall of outgoing White House council Greg Craig, and drops an interesting tidbit concerning Caroline Kennedy's senate bid along the way. According to Dowd, a "vengeful" Bill Clinton was aggressively lobbying Paterson to keep Kennedy out of the Senate. Dowd argues that Obama's handling of Craig's departure -- the "death by a thousand leaks" -- was reminiscent of Obama's "failure" to...
