Prom Hairstyles Inspired by Miley Cyrus

Disney superstar Miley Cyrus has gorgeous long brown locks, which she usually leaves down and casually curled for public appearances. Occasionally she'll pull her hair back into an elegant updo - as she did for the Oscars - which helps to show off whichever dress she's wearing that evening.

Miley's formal hairstyles are all excellent choices for elegant prom hairstyles for long hair. Poor Miley doesn't go to a regular school, so she'll probably never attend a prom; it's more likely she's come to think of the red carpet as her own prom.



At the 2009 Academy Awards, Miley gathered her hair in to this curly, low bun, with her growing-out bangs framing her face. Any hairstylist should be able to do this with a curling iron and plenty of bobby pins.



At the Grammy Awards, Miley chose to show off more of her perfectly-curled mane in an elegant, partly-plaited style (note the soft French braids at the sides of her head) that she later took down for her performance with Taylor Swift.




At the CMA Awards last year, Miley pulled her hair into a side bun with curly tendrils hanging down. It looked like a formal, funky ponytail. The trick to pulling this look off? Curling your hair so that it looks elegant without appearing overdone.



At the Golden Globes, Miley's hair was styled into a half-up, half-down hairstyle that would be a perfect prom hairstyle for long hair. The tendrils that were pulled back from Miley's face were tied or pinned down beneath a layer of Miley's hair for an extra-smooth look.
