Before she tied the knot with British screenwriter Simon Monjack, Brittany Murphy was engaged to Joe Macaluso, whom she met on the set of Little Black Book. She was the leading lady in the film, while Macaluso was a production assistant on the set of the 2005 film.

It didn't work out between Joe and Brittany, who split in August 2006, but since she died of a cardiac arrest on December 20, public interest in Macaluso has risen. He's had a successful career in film, having worked on movies like The House Bunny, Tropic Thunder, The Skeleton Key and Freaky Friday.

When they split, Murphy's rep said the couple "have amicably ended their engagement. They remain close friends and wish each other much happiness."
