The lawsuit, filed in Wayne County Circuit Court, cites recent testimony by attorney Mike Stefani before a disciplinary board that he leaked the messages to the newspaper. Former Detroit mayor released from jail Embattled former Detroit, Michigan, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was released from jail early Tuesday. Kilpatrick, his beard overgrown and bushy, was escorted out of Michigan’s Wayne County jail as he dodged a crowd of reporters before getting into a car and was driven away, according to television footage from CNN affiliate WXYZ. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, you have heard about Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s affair and public ousting from office. Yesterday, his lover, other woman, whatever you want to call her, was released from jail after serving 70 days of her 90 day sentence. With her lawyer and pastor at her side, Christine Beatty was released with 5 years probation and a $100,000 debt to Detroit for obstruction of justice.
