If you were watching the tail-end of the last season of
Saturday Night Live and wondering where all the women cast members were at, you're in luck. The new hires for the 35th season of
SNL have been announced,
Jenny Slate and
Nasim Pedrad, who should help ease
Kristen Wiig's burden.
New cast member Nasim Pedrad will be part of the 35th season of Saturday Night Live.
Nasim Pedrad, who has until now been based in the Los Vegas and Los Angeles areas, is a veteran of the
Upright Citizen's Brigade scene, as well as performing with the Groundlings. She was originally born in Tehran, Iran, and performed a one woman show entitled
Me, Myself, & Iran.
The two will be alongside
Casey Wilson,
Michaela Watkins, and
Abby Elliott, all of whom were brought on to up the female quotient in the cast. However, judging from screen time during the second half of the last season, none seemed to really catch fire with
SNL producers or with audiences.
The new season of
SNL will premiere on September 26th. It's been rumored that Megan Fox will be hosting, though that has yet to be confirmed by NBC.
