Two years ago Notre Dame's 44 game win streak against Navy was broken in Notre Dame Stadium as the Midshipmen pulled the upset of the Irish in triple overtime by way of the triple option. This Saturday should not have the same end result and I don't anticipate that it will come down to the final moments like we have seen in so many games with this Irish team in recent memory. The 19 th ranked Irish welcome Michael Floyd back to the fold as he will play for the first time since September 19 th when he broke his collar bone against Michigan ... Read Full Story

Notre Dame's high-flying offense got one of its most potent players back with the return of receiver Michael Floyd. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound sophomore was second in the nation in receiving yards at 160 yards a game when he broke his left collarbone trying to make a catch against Michigan State on Sept. 19 in the third game of the season. Floyd, who had a plate placed on the bone the next day, was "hooting and hollering going down the steps" after receiving the news Monday night that he was cleared to play, coach Charlie Weis said Tuesday. Luke Harangody should get used to being on top of lists. The senior forward from Notre Dame was the leading vote-getter Monday on The Associated Press' preseason All-America team, and if he has the type of season he usually does, he will become the leader for his school and conference in scoring and rebounding. The 6-foot-8 Harangody received 57 votes from the 65-member national media panel and was followed in the balloting by Kansas teammates Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins. They are the sixth set of teammates selected for the preseason team, which began in 1986-87, and the second from Kansas, joining Raef LaFrentz ... Read Full Story

For the record, the Notre Dame head football coach didn't demand anyone get fired. What he did do, along with wife Maura and son Charlie Jr., was cheer on the New York Yankees as they clinched their 27th World Series championship.

The good news is that Clausen, Allen, Parris, and yes, Michael Floyd are back. Of course, Parris and Floyd will be limited, and Parris isn't even listed on the two-deep. (Walker, Evans, and Goodman are listed as Tate and Floyd's backups). The bad news is that Crist and Trevor Robinson are out. But Robinson's loss will hopefully not be a big one, as he's replaced by Dan Wenger, who started for most of last season. Plus, Robinson's injury...

Eric Murtaugh is one of my favorite writers on Bleacher Report. As a fellow Notre Dame fan, he and I see eye to eye on just about everything. When we aren't writing about Notre Dame we often are battling half of the Cleveland Browns section together in defense of our favorite son, Brady Quinn. One stance that Murtaugh has his feelings about Robert Hughes. He feels that Hughes just doesn't have much to offer the Notre Dame football team...
