Michael Phelps

Age: 23
Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland

Michael Phelps is an American swimmer, and world record holder. He's been a swimmer since he was young, and at the age of 15 he competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, as the youngest American male swimmer at the Olympic games in 68 years. He didn't medal, but five months later he broke the world record in the 200 m butterfly. He's been unstoppable ever since.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens he got a record eight medals, six of them gold. Because of his various titles and world records, he's been named World Simmer of the Year four times. Now he's back for more, competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
