It was one of the most prolific supercars in the history of the supercar. And after 2000 examples built, Mercedes and McLaren are saying goodbye to the SLR, and along with it, one another. The last of the SLRs - the Stirling Moss speedster - are rolling out of McLaren's factory in Woking, England. The German automaker has sold its stake back to the British racing team and bought a new one. Mercedes has followed with the SLS AMG, and McLaren...

When the end of one's life approaches, individuals are prone to reflect and wonder how they'll be remembered. A car, on the other hand, can't think for itself, so we'll have to take up the task in its stead. A joint effort between Mercedes-Benz and its erstwhile Formula One racing partner McLaren, the SLR...

Successor to the SLR McLaren but built on a totally different platform by AMG, the SLS AMG is a “usable, driveable supercar that melds impressively advanced technology with a heritage that very few automakers can approach,” says reviewer Tony Whitney.

On one hand, it may seem like an odd time for Mercedes to be jumping back into the ultra-premium end of the car market, particularly in light of its recent less-than-standouts efforts (think: McLaren SLR and the salesproof Maybach). But this isn't the case with the 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. In fact, this...
