Bath Day for Horses on Pine Island
A rare Saturday without work scheduled, we took some time to give the horses a good bath this morning. They really seemed to like it and then went out for a good roll in the hay. Fall Approaching on Pine Island
Temperatures are falling a little bit on Pine Island, now that it is nearly fall. I've been enjoying riding my bike on the 17 miles of island bike paths. Yesterday I rode up to the tip of Bokeelia and found this cool, apparently home-made, yellow boat docked in the Back Bay section of Bokeelia. Real estate prices are now extremely reasonable. August 2009 Real Estate Sales on Pine Island
August and September is our slowest season on Pine Island. Fourteen residential properties sold in August, median price $151,827. Five parcels of vacant land (some as large as 19 acres) sold in August, median price $155,000. Lots of Rain on Pine Island
We've had lots of long rainstorms on Pine Island this week. A lightning strike took out power in Bokeelia for about six hours the other night. Luckily we have a generator so we could keep the lights and fans going. The humid weather has caused gardenias to keep blooming through August. Here's some photo's of my week on Pine Island. First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit in Action
My daughter Greta bought her first home, a 2 bedroom, 1 bath condominium on Pine Island Island, thanks in part to the new first time home buyer tax credit. This is a federal tax credit, up to 10% of the purchase price of a first home (up to $8,000), that eligible home buyers may qualify for. The property must be closed on by November 30, 2009.
