Indeed the Bill will rob medicare of funds taking benefits away from seniors. This is one more item for a blog post entitled. ” Obama’s Plan to Funeral You” For a guy who cannot manage a White House Dinner, it appears that Funeral U does not appear to be intentional on the part of Barack Obama. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Senate ethics committee on Friday admonished Roland Burris, saying he had been less than candid about his gubernatorial appointment to the Senate seat previously held by President Barack Obama. In taking the action, the panel decided the Democratic Illinois senator's behavior, while "reflecting unfavorably upon the Senate," did not merit censure or expulsion from Congress. After Obama resigned from the Senate to be sworn in as president in January, Rod Blagojevich, then-governor of Illinois, considered a number of possible candidates before appointing Burris to temporarily replace him. Blagojevich was indicted in April on corruption charges, including that he tried to ... Read Full Story

For Democrats determined to get a health care bill, Sen. Roland Burris is like the house guest who couldn't be refused, won't soon be leaving and poses a plausible threat of ruining holiday dinner. Suddenly, he can no longer be ignored. The Illinois Democrat, appointed by disgraced former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, says he'll only vote for a bill to provide health care to millions more Americans as long as it allows the government to sell insurance in competition with private insurers. And he says he won't compromise. "I would not support a bill that does not have a public option," Burris, 72, said in ... Read Full Story

The Democrats' control of a hefty majority in the Senate — plus the House — would suggest that President Barack Obama is within reach of overhauling the nation's health care system this fall. But the numbers mask a more complicated reality: Obama and Democratic leaders have modest leverage over several pivotal Senate Democrats who are more concerned about their next election or feel they have little to lose by opposing their party's hierarchy. One is still smarting from being forced to abandon next year's election. Another had to leave the Democratic Party to stay in office. And some are from states that Obama lost ... Read Full Story

It is so important, it bears repeating: “I’ll vote against any bill without a public option,” said Sen. Roland Burris, D-Ill. The quote is from ABC News, and right before the Burris-bomb, is this little ticking surprise for Reid: “There are at least two Democrats who say they’ll vote against any bill that does not include a public option, and there may be many more.” Perhaps Senator Lieberman’s courage is contagious.
