Xabier Zandio is a professional cyclist from Spain, who was riding for Caisse d'Epargne in the 2007 Tour de France until he broke his collar bone in the 4th stage of the race. Zandio has been forced to drop out of the race.

The Tour de France is a stage race held in and around France every July.

Caisse d'Epargne suffered a big loss today in the Tour de France. Spanish rider Xabier Zandio of Caisse d'Epargne had to drop out of the Tour de France because of a crash in the fourth stage of the race. Zandio crashed barely 70km into the 193km stage. Team manager Jose-Luis Jaimerena said: "He's broken his right collarbone, it's impossible for him to carry on." "But it's a big loss for the team. Team Sky signed up two new riders on Monday — Mathew Hayman, Australia's Commonwealth Games road race champion, and Frenchman Nicolas Portal. Hayman, 31, leaves Dutch team Rabobank.
