The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation last week released its latest Index of Entrepreneurial Activity . The Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity indicated that overall entrepreneurial activity increased in the United States last year. In 2008, an average of 0.32 percent of the adult population, or 320 out of 100,000 adults, created a new business each month. In 2007, the overall entrepreneurial activity rate was 0.30 percent.

According to a new study by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, challenging economic times can serve as the rebirth of entrepreneurial capitalism, leading to the creation of much-needed new jobs.
