1996 300 Tdi- with 89,000 miles FSH- I noticed on a drive out yesterday that the rev counter needle is dancing between 1,000 rpm and 3,000 rmp with the vehicle doing a constant 60 mph   When Idling it jumps between 700 rmp to just over the 1,200 rmp mark - the engine I might is reving and idling as it should - its just the needle that seems to have lost the plot :p any idea's guys?? Les :DView Original Article

Well I'm swapping out engines so wish me luck and pray that this used engine is worth a crap. It supposevely has 80k on it but it doesn't look that good to me. question: I was hoping to be able to pull the engine forward enough to get it out of the trans and pull it out but after looking at the engine with the torque converter on it it looks like I need to drop the trans. Will I need to drop the transmission when I do this? Thanks,Paul View Original Article
