Sure, Joss Whedon is still working on Dollhouse (and we'll tell you all about that next week), but he's got lots of other things going and he tells TV Guide Magazine all about it. How's your deal going to buy the rights to the Terminator franchise? You put up a couple of bucks, I hear. I haven't heard back but I've made it clear that this is a non-exclusive offer that other people can have the rights, too. I just have them also. That's a good bargaining chip. You crunch those numbers and that's $10,000! That's a lot of money. I will say ... Read Full Story

Earlier today, geek guru Joss Whedon posted an open letter on fansite Whedonesque.com announcing a $10,000 bid for the rights to the Terminator franchise . ( The Financial Times first reported the very real auction , with Sony Pictures and Summit Entertainment reputedly among those in the running.) Almost immediately, the web lit up wondering just how serious Whedon was (sample suggestion for how he'd change the franchise: "Christian Bale's John Connor will get a throat lozenge"). So EW phoned Whedon, and asked him: Was he just being funny? Or making a bid for the franchise by way of being funny? His first ... Read Full Story

I can think of a few people who will be thrilled by this news: Nathan Fillion says the sequel to the Emmy-winning Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is moving ahead pretty quickly. "There are plans," Fillion confirmed to MTV . "The media for the sequel has not yet been decided, but there is a title." What I assume he means by "the media for the sequel" is that they don't know yet if it will live on the internet first or if it's a TV thing or a DVD or a combination of all of the above. No story details, damn the luck, but the ... Read Full Story

The financial troubles of Halycon, the production company who own the rights to the Terminator franchise, have been well documented. They owe close to $30 million to various companies and as a result, they are being forced to auction off their most prized asset, the Terminator franchise. Now it appears Joss Whedon is riding in on his white horse to save the franchise, writing a letter to the people of Halycon. read more Read Full Story

Image from source, EW If you type "Joss Whedon" into the search box above, you'll likely have several pages of previous posts of mine to scroll through. I'm a huge fan, and have recently plowed through every episode of every show that Whedon has created. Yeah, I'm that nuts. His current show Dollhouse has been featured here as much as anything, but it looks unlikely to survive for the full TV season. But to help squelch my sadness about that likely eventuality, Whedon will be directing an episode of Glee ! Which, given his spectacular success on the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire ... Joss Whedon’s recent projects have had mixed results. Last year’s stellar Dr. Horrible won an Emmy, but news arrived last week that Whedon’s cult favorite, the beleaguered Dollhouse, will be cancelled, airing its final episodes this January. (For a tongue-in-cheek suggestion as to why Fox cancelled the series, check out this video from College Humor.)...

One of the cannier decisions by V's producers was to cast not one, but two refugees from Joss Whedon's beloved, departed sci-fi series Firefly. You've got Morena Baccarin as V High Commander Anna, rocking the best short brunette haircut since Janine Turner on Northern Exposure. And you have — or, at least, had — Alan Tudyk as Dale, the FBI agent revealed to be a V sleeper agent. Firefly fans were no doubt disappointed (as we were) when...

As much as we all fervently and loyally love Joss Whedon, it's time to face facts: His mojo is off. It's not gone -- I'd never suggest such a thing. One look at Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and the better episodes of Dollhouse prove that the magic is still there. However, it has lost its focus, writhing in the ether, struggling to gain the fame of his earlier television work -- fame that while never massive, was solid, loyal, and...

Since you suggested I do so a few weeks back, I watched "Once More with Feeling"--that Buffy episode that cemented Joss Whedon's reputation for whipping up all these musical stuff.  And, well, it was fun.  Fun, and very meticulous. So I wondered, since Joss himself wrote those songs, that it's possible some of the songs on that episode will appear on the future Glee episode he will helm.  Who knows?  It'd be funny seeing Finn go "let me rest in...
