General Motors said Tuesday it had received "expressions of interest" for its Swedish unit Saab since a planned sale fell through last month, and would evaluate potential bids before the end of December. The US automaker indicated it was continuing to seek a buyer for Saab after Swedish luxury carmaker Koenigsegg and a Chinese partner gave up a bid due to costly delays. NANJING, China (Reuters) - Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp (BAIC) might still be interested in buying General Motors' Saab unit, Wang Dazong, the Chinese car company's general manager, said on Monday. A spokeswoman for General Motors' Saab unit says several potential buyers have expressed interest in the Swedish brand after specialty car maker pulled out of a deal to acquire it. On Tuesday, a group led by Sweden's Koenigsegg Automotive AB dropped out of a deal to buy Saab that had been in the works since June. Swedish luxury carmaker Koenigsegg said Tuesday it was giving up its bid to buy Saab Automobile from its US parent General Motors due to costly delays, plunging Saab's future into doubt. About 37 percent of U.S. Saab dealers will close as part of General Motors Corp.'s planned sale of the ailing Swedish car brand to Koenigsegg Group AB, a GM spokeswoman said Saturday. GM spokeswoman Ryndee Carney said the company had sent letters to 81 of the 218 U.S. Saab dealers notifying them they will be expected to terminate their dealerships when the sale closes around the end of November.
