Dear Bob Rae: A letter from a Tamil Canadian

I was amused and irritated when I heard you admonishing the Conservative Governments’ Foreign Policy as weak on ‘Mike Duffy Live’ yesterday (Thursday, April 17), and said that Canada should get involved in places like Sri Lanka where there is a separatist war going on.
See who is talking, I thought. Another God damn Liberal who provided sustenance, oxygen and a life-line to the serial killer Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of the Tamil Tigers for 13 long years when you all were in power. You all had every God damn excuse not to ban the Tamil Tigers when the rest of the world recognized them as a bunch of ruthless killer-terrorists and banned them. That is how irritated I was.
As much as I have some respect for you as a smart politician who knows much about what is going on in Sri Lanka having visited the island representing the ‘Forum of Federation’ to try to convince the feuding parties the virtues of federalism, your comment was not good musing.
Just don’t go there. I have followed your career from the days when you were a NDP parliamentarian and their Finance critic, many, many, moons ago, so you are no rookie to this politico-mugs game.
Bob, your Liberal Party abdicated the Nobel Peace Prize winning Pearsonian crown as a Peace Maker, the day that you all blessed the Tamil Tiger sympathizers in the GTA to collect two million dollars a month for the Tamil Tiger war-chest which went on for the next 13 years, and you want the Liberals to get involved in Sri Lanka’s affairs. You must be joking! It is just not Kosher, to allow the Tamil Tigers shoot bullets bought with Canadian dollars to kill innocent unarmed Sinhalese civilians, and then tell the Sri Lankans, we can help you to arrive at some peace deal, when you Liberals are a bunch of Tamil vote-sniffing rats and are suspect.
