Disgruntled 73-Year-Old Real Estate Client Shoots Realtor
In case you were unaware of the demoralizing ripple effect of the real estate crisis, consider the case of 73-year-old Robert Johnson, who on Tuesday (June 1) put a gun to the head of his former real estate agent and pulled the trigger.
Johnson reportedly became angry when he found that his home was worth far less than he paid for it and placed the blame not on nose-diving real estate prices, but on the shoulders of 33-year-old Nexes Realty agent Troy VanderStelt .
Witnesses report that Johnson was calm when he entered the firm's office and requested to meet with VanderStelt before being directed to a conference room. Shortly thereafter, Johnson was seen leaving the scene of the crime and VanderStelt was found on the conference room floor.
VanderStelt was placed on life support at Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus, but was pronounced dead just after noon central time. His MySpace.com page has since become a memorial to the beloved family man .

As a fellow Realtor in Michigan, I am saddened with this news - my heart hurts knowing this nightmare happened - please accept my prayers to the family of Troy VanderStelt. The world has totally gone crazy. Know that there are good people out here, it seems as if we are becoming the minority.
