And then I realized… I haven’t done a zeitgeist post in ages. Last week was pretty quiet once the dust settled from Stephen’s trip to Lake Placid. This week has been a little slow, too, but it sure is good to have the joy machine back, isn’t it? Break weeks are good for getting caught up on other things, but I do miss that brilliant smile on my TV screen every night. Here’s the news, such as ... Read Full Story

Colbert’s DNA will be digitized and deposited at the International Space Station once ... Read Full Story

Six Degrees Peter Grosz opens for Jeff Tweedy of Wilco at a Chicago benefit – Wings for Wheels “Grosz began by saying that he hadn’t performed in front of this many people in a synagogue since his Bar Mitzvah, so he was expecting to be ignored by girls a foot taller than he, and ... Cross another one off the "waiting for them to go HD" list, as Comedy Central is upgrading The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report to 1080i. What caused the wait until 2010? You’d think Alicia Keys doing “Empire State of Mind” on The Colbert Report without Jay-Z but with a slow new intro would be boring. YOU WOULD BE WRONG. That’s because Stephen Colbert more than gamely filled in, coming out of nowhere to drop a whole new verse while wearing what looks like a hooded suit. Non–Andy Samberg parody rap is usually a terrible idea, but this was too goofy not to work: We’re pretty sure Colbert’s reading the words...
