Sri Lankan Tamils Protest Civilian Deaths In Washington
Tamil supporters ask for help from the United States during a protest in front of the White House May 18, 2009 in Washington, DC. According to reports from the Sri Lankan military, the leader of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) rebels, Velupillai Prabhakaran, has been killed as the reign of the Tigers is now near finished as a conventional force. According to the United Nations over 6500 Tamil civilians have been killed since last January from the civil war with Sri Lanka.
