Clarence Coe, the man who allegedly kidnapped 5-year-old
Shaniya Davis, was taken into custody by police last night. The 30-year-old was arrested 1st degree on kidnapping charges, but the little girl has not been found as of yet. Authorities have not released whether or not Coe knew Shaniya.

Police say the girl disappeared from her home early Tuesday, and her mother claims she last saw the girl around 5:30am. Shaniya's mom, her boyfriend, and 3 other people were home at the time she disappeared. “There is definitely something not right about the situation. Foul play is suspected,” police spokesperson Theresa Chance said Tuesday (via

Coe was taken into custody and investigators said they found a blanket that might have belonged to Shaniya in a garbage can outside a neighbor's home, and might have found items the little girl was wearing.
Coe is expected to be in court today. He was convicted of assault on a female, felony breaking and entering, robbery, and other charges in 2001.
