Mexican Donkey Jailed for Attack

Blacky, the burro may be the only donkey that can say he's served hard time. After biting and kicking two men outside a ranch in the Mexican state of Chiapas, the donkey served three days in prison for ass-ault.

Alright, so that was a pretty lame play on words. But Blacky did do some time for the vicious assault. The two victims walked away with bite wounds, and one fractured his ankle.

According to police it took a group of six men to take the angry donkey down. Blacky was held in a section of a prison usually reserved for those arrested for public drunkenness or other disturbances.

The Donkey was held for three days, then released after his owner paid a fine that would go towards the victims' medical bills and salary for the days they had to miss work.

Apparently, arresting animals is a common practice in Chiapas. Police in the state have jailed more than a few unruly animals, including a bull that ate corn crops and destroyed two wooden market stalls in March.

"Around here, if someone commits a crime they are jailed," said Sinar Gomez, a police officer from Chiapas. "No matter who they are." He's like a real life Dirty Harry, just from Mexico.
