Leighton Meester Wears Bottega Veneta to the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards

Every now and then I'll see one of my red carpet favorites in a questionable design, and I'll find myself grabbing at futile justifications for the fuggery. I'll convince myself that I actually like the dress in question, sometimes, that it's just a little too fierce for everyday wear but on the red carpet these things are warmly welcomed. But I just can't do that with Leighton Meester's white Bottega Veneta dress.It's not just the strange shoulder-knots or the fact that no camera can accurately tackle this sea of white. It's that it's paired with the entirety of the Gossip Girl on-set makeup kit. Someone's trying too hard.
