Aggregators come in many forms on the web. They essentially combine, condense and relate similar types of data in a single place, and provide an interface to better make use of the data. They may include:
- news aggregators, such as feed readers.
- single page aggregators, such as popurls.com
- social aggregators for identity and presence such as linkedin.com, twitter.com and profilactic.com.
South Africa's blog aggregator, Amatomu, has become too expensive to run: “Amatomu has become too expensive for us to maintain and run, as it brings very little revenue, and bears a prohibitive cost for a company whose main product is news.”
