Aleister Crowley (October 12, 1875 – December 1, 1947), born Edward Alexander Crowley, was an English occultist, writer, mountaineer, poet, yogi, and possible spy. He was an influential member of occult organizations, including the Golden Dawn, the A∴A∴, and Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.), and is known today for his magical writings, especially "The Book of the Law," the central sacred text of Thelema. He gained notoriety during his lifetime, and was denounced in the popular press of the day as "The wickedest man in the world." Vote buying, sweet and simple. And who usually voted for the nanny state parties, those that wanted to be paid to stay and do unproductive work.
Although the nanny state policies are national, not all the nation agreed with them. I hope Crowley's book does not treat Canada as a monolith but shows what parts of Canada wanted the nanny state and which parts ended paying for it.
