The pictures are important to everyone. Anyone who is married (especially those with children) want to have family portraits taken from time to time. Thinking about other people’s homes that have been in to many of them probably have a family photograph. In fact, the picture you have posted may be very old and in need of a new one.

If you have a talent for making pretty pictures and are good at relating to people, can make money as a photographer of the family. Think of all real estate agents you know. Think of all the mortgage brokers who you know. Now think of all the photographers you know. I guess you came up with real estate agents and brokers more mortgage than they did the photographers. I am not suggesting that there is a lot of photographers out there. However, I am guessing that your family and friends are not committed to any particular photographer. Maybe they had their family portrait done in a chain of large photo or department stores because they do not know where to go.

As for your initial investment goes, is relatively small compared to other companies. My wife and I bought a low-end SLR digital cameras to begin with. We have invested in Photoshop and borrowed a flash of a friend. After making a little money, we sold our camera on eBay and has invested in a high-end camera used. The pictures are taken at the customer’s home or in a beautiful environment, therefore there is no need to own or rent a studio.

At the start, you can ask your friends and family if you can take some family photos free for them (against the costs for any of the images that order). That way you can start building a portfolio. Doing a good job and have the references to his family and friends, so what’s worth your time to do some free work for them.
