Alicia Witt Stars in 'The Pond' and 'Joint Body'

Actress Alicia Witt, perhaps best known for her role on Friday Night Lights, but lately she's been making headlines for her work in some exciting new indie films.She recently debuted a short film called The Pond at an Oscar Hopeful Short Films screening. The event was held as part of the Oscar qualifying process, which requires three consecutive days (Tuesday-Thursday) of paid screenings at least twice a day in a Los Angeles County theater.
According to the film's director, The Pond is "a drama with some fantasy mixed in." The movie tells the story of a young widow is scattered her husband's ashes when some very strange and mystical things begin to happen. When asked about her role Witt told Examiner.com, “This was an amazing experience, and I think what’s incredible about this film is that it really attracted people who connected with the story on a very deep level both in front and behind the camera…. It was a cathartic, emotional experience to make it, and I couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out.”
The actress also had a film premiering at the 47th International Chicago Film Festival recently. Witt plays a mysterious exotic dancer in Joint Body, which also stars Lost’s Mark Pellegrino.
