Angelina Jolie Says Next Film Will Be Sleeping Beauty Twist Malificent
Now promoting In the Land of Blood and Honey at the Berlin International Film Festival, Angelina Jolie has said that Maleficent, Disney’s twist on the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, will be her next movie.
Jolie who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter said,
I haven’t acted in two years [since The Tourist], and I haven’t done anything else since this [Land of Blood and Honey]. The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie.
While Angelina Jolie didn’t confirm that Maleficent would be her next movie, it is certainly implied that it would be. We recently reported that production designer Robert Stromberg has been brought in to direct. The movie would be his directorial debut. Stromberg has been the production designer for two Disney movies: Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland & Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful, he has also worked on James Cameron’s Avatar.
For those who might not know of the tale of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent was the witch who cast the sleeping spell on Princess Aurora after she pricked her finger on a needle.
Alice in Wonderland scribe Linga Woolverton has penned the Maleficent script. While Angelina Jolie hinted that Maleficent would be her next movie, it also means that the actress would have to hold on other projects. Jolie is currently attached to Luc Besson’s untitled movie, Gertrude Bell, and David Fincher’s Cleopatra.
