China says swine flu cases rise by 60 to 678

China's Health Ministry says 60 more people have been confirmed to have swine flu, bringing the total on the mainland to 678 cases.

The ministry said in a statement that half the new cases reported by late Saturday were in the southern province of Guangdong, while 10 cases were confirmed in Sichuan, in the country's southwest. The rest were in Shanghai, Beijing and other parts of the country.

Guangdong's health bureau says about two-thirds of its 30 new cases were in students from three schools. It says none was seriously ill and all were in stable condition.

Chinese authorities have been enforcing quarantines and temperature checks at airports.
