Elizabeth Olsen, Dakota Fanning, and Anton Yelchin Added to Naomi Foner’s ‘Very Good Girls’

Three of Hollywood’s brightest stars are about to gather together in a project to be directed by Naomi Foner. Deadline reports that Anton Yelchin & Dakota Fanning, two of Hollywood’s youthful acting elite, and rising star Elizabeth Olsen have been cast in Foner’s Very Good Girls. Though Foner is not necessarily a household name, the writer and producer has had a few titles under her belt since the 70s. Very Good Girls would mark her debut as a director. Fanning and Olsen will play as two recently graduated high school students, who decide to lose their virginity as a way of gaining passage into the adult world. Unfortunately the two fall for the same guy, and their goals are met with complications and dangerous circumstances.

I remember talking to Anton Yelchin about these youthful roles, and the actor told me he tries to avoid the dull and generic high school roles he is offered. Now while this seems like a toned down version of Bridewars, the assembled cast leads us to believe that it is something different.

Here is a quote from Naomi Foner

“The film deals with female sexuality and friendship in a way we haven’t seen before. These girls will be stunning young women in a couple of years, but they’ve struggled through high school with only each other. Most of us have been there. This is the summer where they finally get to touch real life.”

While I may not fit this demographic, it sounds as though we are getting a down to earth film. Very Good Girls will shoot in New York this summer.
