You might say Rick Martin started out as an “accidental” hiker. But 232 miles and two pairs of hiking boots later, he’s earned an award for hiking the Appalachian Trail.  

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy estimates that since 1948, 50,000 people have attempted a through-hike on the Appalachian Trail and only about 8,000 have finished one.  

Rick Martin hiked the entire portion of the Appalachian Trail that winds through Pennsylvania.

I'm not a deer. If you see me, you'll probably realize that. But I hope you aren't hunting where you will see me, particularly if I'm on the Appalachian Trail.
