Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has suggested he would like his club to have the same financial backing as Manchester City.
The Neopolitan club defeated the Premier League leaders in the Champions League 2-1 on Tuesday, but De Laurentiis admitted that he is envious of their opponents' formidable financial resources. "We are back at the top of football through great work and making the most of our investments," the 62-year-old told the Corriere dello Sport.
"This is contrary to what others, including [Manchester] City, do. They have spent a fortune to set the team up and build a stadium under an airline's name with a sheikh's petrol dollars.
"Give me a stadium and we can see. Or perhaps the possibility to combine the club with a powerful economic group."
Napoli currently sit seven points behind Juventus in Serie A and face them next week, but De Laurentiis jokingly stated that he is not worried about his side's meeting with the Turin club.
"Juve? I am more concerned about the Atalanta game [on Saturday]."
