From A's ownership to Oakland's politicians, with all due respect: Bite me

Hard to come away from this story http://www.contracostatimes.com/sports/ci_11905785 with anything other than the impression that the A's are sticking a big foam middle finger at the city of Oakland at this point in the Gimme-a-Ballpark Game. But upon closer inspection,  the situation isn't really as bad as it looks because the "effort" by Oakland to keeps the A's in town isn't anything to get excited about.  It's just a bunch of hot air out of the mayor's office. I have to admit that I was... Read Full Story

(From Wordpress Version - Original Posted June 16, 2008 ) I’m sorry, but TNB is officially a long winded blog. Guys and Gals, I can’t seem to figure out how to write short posts. I’ve decided to do this as a two part post so the best part will come later today: Anyways, here goes: I’m beginning to realize that most of my Father/Son posts will attempt to start with the following statement: “Tonight is a night that I will never forget.” My wife... A-Rod was young and stupid but I'm middle aged and cynical

Alex Rodriguez is really sorry about that whole steroids thing.  He was just young and stupid, trying to live up to lofty expectations. Happens to the best of us, right? If you haven't had a chance, surf over to ESPN to see A-Rod's soul-baring interview with Peter Gammons: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3894847 At some point ESPN should have flashed "OSCAR CLIP" under A-Rod's face as he got all choked up admitting to steroid use.
