I have observed and researched a flag or five in my life. One of my favorite state flags in the United States of America is the flag of Maine. This flag displays the state's coat of arms on a blue colored background and is attached to residential aluminum flag poles throughout the state. Interestingly, throughout the U.S. there are a good number of state flags that display their respective coat of arms on a blue field.
Unlike most flags, the coat of arms is shown in different colors are times, since no official colors have been designated. However, the blue colored background is specified and is the same as the blue color used in the national flag of the United States. Even though some specifications exist with regards to the Maine state flag, these details (such as a fringe of yellow silk) are rarely seen.
Even though I consider this to be one of my favorite state flags, a survey conducted by NAVA in the past concluded that current design of the state flag is considered one of the worst in the Nation. It ranked sixtieth (out of the seventy-two other surveyed flags). NAVA main points of criticism was that the state seal on a blue colored background matches most other state flags displayed from countless aluminum flag poles throughout the U.S. land.
Maine has a fascinating history of being the "home" to many ship-building businesses. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this beautiful state was home to many shipyards that manufactured wooden ships. The main function of these vessels was to transport different types of cargo and passengers overseas.
Maine is a state in the New England area, the pine tree being the symbol of this territory. This state is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean as well as Canada to the northwest and northeast. The land displays wonderful scenery, consisting of rocky coastline, rolling hills and mountains, and the great areas of forests. The first European settlers inhabited this land back in 1604.
Banners and flags of all kinds, including the Maine flag, and more are produced using quality materials.Flags: Blue Flag
