The man with the task of adapting Stephen Kings mammoth tome into a (possible) trilogy is David Kajganich. Not the most recognisable of names admittedly, and when I tell you that he was the person behind the most recent iteration of Invasion of the Body-Snatchers, The Invasion, you may feel justifiably nervous. But fear not for it seems it’s his work on another Stephen King adaptation that has attracted the attention of stand director Ben Affleck. That project is a new version of small town monster movie, It, the novel made famous by Tim Currys performance as the demonic Pennywise.
This new version is allegedly a lot more adult then the original with Kajganich drawing on some of the more horrific scenes from the original novel. Until recently Kajganich was also involved in another King remake, this time of Pet Sematary. However a studio shake-up led to a watered down version that he wasn’t to keen to be involved in. So despite that early stumbling block it seems that Kajganich could be our man after all, especially with his self professed love for all things King. Unfortunately that’s the only development at the moment, and with the current rate of Stand related news we can probably expect the next morsel some time in May.
