Mark your calendar now for the premier event of the summer in Windsor, Ontario, one short mile from the Motor City, July 15-17, 2011.
Bluesfest International is doing what it does best- keeping the blues alive for its 17th season. This year's award-winning festival held in Windsor, Ontario is on the riverfront, opposite the beautiful Motown skyline and the only Caesars Casino & Hotel in Canada.
The festival kicks off with headliner Tim Robbins & the Rogues Gallery Band. Actor, Academy Award winning, director, producer and musician, Robbins is best-known for his roles as Nuke in Bull Durham, Andy Dufresne in the critically acclaimed Shawshank Redemption and Dave Boyle in Mystic River, for which he won his Academy Award . Robbin’s self- titled debut album is being released in North America, just in time for Bluesfest. Tim and his band have just completed a 22 date European tour to rave reviews. Rolling Stone says, “Tim holds the dignity of the best of American songwriting in the line of Bruce Springsteen.
Headlining Saturday night is England’s icon blues rockers Ten Years After who will rock the stage!
Saturday’s other headliner is Canadian multi- platinum selling, singer songwriter from Barenaked Ladies Steven Page.
Closing out this year’s festival, fresh off a sold out national tour with Bob Seger , is Alto Reed and the Motor City Allstars. Alto’s bringing a hemi powered ten- piece band of special guests.
Another notable is Texas Scratch featuring members of George Thorogood’s Delaware Destroyers, Savoy Brown and John Mayall’s guitarist for 15 years Buddy Whittington. Other great acts complete the 3 day event such as Scott Holt, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Pazman’s SuperSession, Smokin’ Joe Kubek and Bnois King and more!
Invite your friends and family to stay for the weekend; our sponsoring hotels, Holiday Inn Downtown, Holiday Inn & Suites Ambassador Bridge and Hampton Inn & Suites are all offering special online weekend packages.
Bluesfest International, July 15-17 also features Family Day Sunday, Long and McQuade’s Music Clinic and Essex County Riders Show and Shine.
There’s vendors, food, refreshments, CD signing and you never know who will be in attendance!
Don’t miss the annual Blues N & Cruisin’ June 26, the official KICKOFF to Bluesfest, featuring a multitude of blues bands in the big tent at Place Concorde and the inaugural Bob Probert Memorial Ride for Hotel-Dieu Grace Angioplasty Program.
