10 Reasons ATL Housewife Sheree Whitfield Is Misunderstood

Real Houswives Premiere-Sheree
Atlanta Housewife, Sheree Whitfield has earned the award for most conceited housewife when it comes to the Atlanta Housewives. But why do we really love to hate her so much?

Say what you want, but Sheree is a very pulled together, attractive woman, who on the surface, seems to have a lot going for her in the looks and style department. But what drives people crazy about this chocolate diva is the seemingly understated way in which she insights drama. Most people can handle a diva, many can handle a bitch. But Sheree has a way of saying ugly things in such a quiet and polite manner that the sheer attitude behind it sends most people over the edge and makes the claws come out.

Even the host of the reunion show commented on how she is snarky with a smile. Although she may not be trying to come off this way, many find her to be manipulative and disingenuous. She is the first to say that she is not about drama, but then one can’t help but wonder if she is like the little kid who pits two friends against each other and then sits back innocently and enjoys the fireworks that she secretly started.

Whatever you may think of her, everyone has to admit, she has a great sense of style and the potential to do some good in the world if she could just get beyond herself.

So here are the top ten things said or done by Sheree Whitfield that makes everyone love to hate her and that has sent the blogosphere into a frenzy.

10. When the assistant told Sheree that Nene wasn’t on the list, she turned to another lady and commented on her lashes. She seemed to totally unconcerned. She did it on purpose. That was not editing.

9.“Everbody knows me as being stylish.”
Quote from Sheree on the first episode.

8. “I’m 38 years old and hot for my age.”
Another quote from Sheree on the first episode.

7. “A big problem with men nowadays is that their intimidated by successful women.”
Yet another priceless quote from that first episode. She never stood a chance at being liked with quotes like these.

6. “Budget? What’s that?”
This seems to be the way Sheree sees the world in general, or it could be the way the editors wanted her to be seen. It makes her look as if she spends money indiscriminatly. That and the fact that she is seeking a huge settlement from her husband Bob Whitfield probably feeds into the whole hatred of Sheree, especially the way the economy is going right now.

5. “Keisha, how many more of my bags you got in this store?”
The obsessive need to be the first or the only one to have something is a definite turn off. It is okay to want to look good and to want to be different, but when it looks like you are trying too hard to be different, it just comes off as snobbish an stuck up and shallow.

4. “…I’m fashion, I’m style and if they can’t keep up, then that’s they (sic) problem.”
These are things that people should say about you, not things that you say about yourself. You don’t have to be a shrinking violet, but you don’t have to be overly conceited either.

3. “She’s just trying to remain relevant.”
This comment from the reunion show addressing Andy Cohen’s question to the ladies about New York Housewife, Bethany Frankel’s blog. I guess the biggest issue that I have with this statement is, by being a part of the show, isn’t she at the very least trying to establish relevance? Who outside of her Atlanta circle even knew her until the show? Everybody is relevant in their own way. I hate this comment the most.

2. The fact that she blew DeShawn off, not once but twice. The first, when DeShawn called to ask about her participation in the auction. If she was having a facial, why did she answer the phone in the first place? And the second time, when she didn’t show up to DeShawn’s BBQ and didn’t even bother to RSVP. It’s obvious she is not a true Southern Belle.

1. And the top reason we love to hate Sheree is the fact that even if she didn’t leave Nene off the guest list, which is still under much suspicion, she seemed to take great pleasure in the fact that it happened. There was a picture of it in the photo album and if she didn’t put it there, the classy thing to do once she discovered what it was, would have been to remove it.

I do feel that we have had a little fun at Sheree’s expense. And I acknowledge that a lot of what we saw may have been the product of creative editing. Still, a reality show can’t make up what’s not there. You gotta give em something to work with.

I look forward to the next season of the ATL wives. I hope that we get to see a less shallow Sheree and maybe we will all understand her a little better.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Happy Wednesday!!
