American Rebecca Bross overcame a fall during her balance beam routine to win the women's all-around gold medal at the Pacific Rim Championship gymnastics here on Friday.
Bross steered the United States to the team gold despite an ankle injury which restricted reigning world all-round champion Bridget Sloan to one apparatus.
Bross, who finished second behind Sloan in the all-around in last year's world championships, tallied 59.150 points to beat team mate Alexandra Raisman (58.250) with Russian Ksenia Afanasyeva (57.450) third.
The Americans were too strong in the team event, winning with 234.950 points from China (219.450) and Australia (215.450).
It was a disappointing night for world champion Sloan, who stopped midway through her routine on the uneven bars when she got her timing wrong.
That was Sloan's only apparatus of the night because she is recovering from an ankle injury, and her score of 13.650 was not good enough to reach Sunday's apparatus finals.
The Americans also dominated the junior all-around competition, as Jordyn Wieber won gold, Kyla Ross took silver and Russian Anna Rodionova was third.
The men's apparatus finals will be held on Saturday.
