Car of the Day - Aston Martin Rapide N24
Aston Martin released the second in the N24 series with the first significant derivative of its Rapide. The four door luxury sports car is not the most likely of contenders for the Nurburgring 24 hrs but the idea of a racing Rapide is something that excites us Australians.
With the individual touring car championships around the world are all vastly different in style and manufacturer make up the entry of another exotic 4-door onto the race scene only adds to the desire for a world touring car championship.
Germany and Australia have undoubtably had the most exciting series for quite sometime now with the DTM and V8 Supercars. England and the US have had what - front drive egg beaters and "the car of the future" ?.... Now though there is talk of a Porsche Panamera in the Italian Series and this - a racing Rapide.
Just for a minute imagine a world 4-door series of controlled output/weight Panameras, Quattroportes, Rapides, Commodores, Falcons, AMG Mercs, Jaguars and RS Audi - and one day the US may build something race worthy - but I doubt it.
