Carla Bruni:I'm not pregnant ... but I'd like to be

French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is desperately trying for a baby - but admits time might be against her.
In a highly personal interview published today, the 40-year-old was asked directly if she was pregnant following marriage to President Nicolas Sarkozy in February.
Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy replied: “No, unfortunately not. I wonder if my stomach’s got bigger, because everyone is asking me the same question.
'I’m not pregnant and I regret it because I love it when I am.
'Will it happen? It’s difficult for me to say. It’s much more difficult at 40 than it is at 25.'
Speculation about Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy having a baby has been rife ever since the start of an 80 day whirlwind romance with the president which only started last November.
She has had one child, a son, seven-year-old Aurélien, from a previous relationship, but has made no secret of wanting to have a child with Mr Sarkozy, 53.
He has three sons from his first two marriages, as well as two step daughters.
If she does indeed fulfil her wish to have a baby while here husband is in office, Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy will be the first high profile wife of a political leader to have a baby in office since Cherie Blair had Leo in 2000 when Tony Blair was Prime Minister
