Baby Talk: Bruni ‘Trying To Get Pregnant’, Nice!

French president Nicholas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni are trying for a baby, according to one of their closest friends.

Jacques Seguela, who introduced the couple to each other, broke the news in an interview with one of the country’s leading celebrity magazines.

The advertising mogul told Voici: “Nicolas and Carla are very keen to have a child. “Carla has admitted as much on a number of occasions, otherwise I would not be allowed to say this.

* Mr Sarkozy is said to be deeply in love with the glamorous First Lady.

“Everyone knows about it now. They are a young couple, and like all young couples, they want to start a family.”

Mr Sarkozy has three sons from two previous marriages, as well as two stepdaughters. Miss Bruni, 41, has a son from a relationship with the philosopher Raphael Enthoven.

It is an open secret among France’s elite that the president and his wife are desperate to start a family together.

Mr Sarkozy is madly in love with the singer and model believes it will complete their union, say close sources. He is apparently also of the view fathering another child will make him more appealing to voters ahead of the election in 2012.

At the age of 54 it could make him appear more vital. His health was called into question recently when he collapsed whilst out jogging. Last week, Miss Bruni was portrayed by the society magazine Point de Vue as France’s new Marie Antoinette.

The magazine depicted her as a lazy, multi-millionaire socialite who was completely out of touch with ordinary French people. The Elysee Palace has so far refused to comment on the baby talk.
