Movie Memories: Nico Muhly picks Starship Troopers!

"Movie Memories" is a recurring feature in which we ask famously talented people to recount the naked man movie moment that left an impression on their once-impressionable minds.

When we asked New York-based composer Nico Muhly, who just released his sophomore album Mothertongue, for his "Movie Memory", he replied thus, “Even though this wasn't full nudity, that scene in Starship Troopers where that guy gets tied up and lashed all shirtless-like was pretty unreal.”

“That guy” is actor Casper Van Dien, who stars as Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers and Starship Troopers 3: Marauders (but NOT Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation). Fortunately for Nico, a nice man named “Toughplay” has uploaded the clip (dubbed in German!) of Casper bound and whipped to YouTube.

Incidentally, Nico's new album features scary samples of eviscerated animal parts. Could there be a connection to this scene? Reminisce over it, as well as an NSFW gif of the Starship shower scene, after the jump!
