Officials at Catoctin Mountain Park near Thurmont say upgrades to the visitor center are taking longer than expected.

The National Park Service said Monday that the center will remain closed for a second week as crews replace the reception desk and flooring.

The center closed Jan. 23 and is scheduled to reopen Saturday.

Meanwhile, park visitors must make do with a portable toilet instead of indoor restrooms.

The agency says maps of the popular hiking trails are available from a dispenser on the building's front porch.
