American Idol Looking To Top 100 Million Dollars

American Idol has plans to make over 100 million dollars to help fund efforts to decrease poverty in America and abroad
Idol
This is a big night for American Idol since today is the day for the big American Idols gives back show. Last year the show pulled in an amazing 76 million dollars to support charities that aide 6 charities devoted to helping people in the US and Africa.
Exxon Mobile
One Corporate sponsor, Exxon Mobile has donated 10 million dollars for Malaria No More a charity devoted to preventing Malaria in Africa. Rex W. Tillerson, chairman and chief executive officer, said “We have a proud history of supporting the battle against malaria.”

He went on to say,

ExxonMobil has thousands of workers in Africa, is one of the largest direct foreign investors in the continent, and knows very well the devastating impact of malaria and the need for action. We are pleased to support Idol Gives Back, which raises money to fight malaria and also helps to increase public awareness of this major health issue.

Exxon Mobile gave to American Idol last year and has given over 121 million dollars to organizations working in and benefiting Africa. Will this make up for the drastic increase in gas prices or their record profits in the last year or so? I’m not sure but it is a noble donation.

Back to the show

Last year the show made over 76 million dollars for many organizations. Just recently there was a cloud of interest over last years Idol Gives Back because 5 million dollars was unaccounted for. A spokesperson for the show said that the five million was used to pay off the administrative bills. (celebrities, phone lines, and etc.)

Tonight the show is set to have some big names showing up like Robin Williams, Celine Dion, Forest Whitaker, Billy Crystal, Dane Cook, Kiefer Sutherland, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Connolly, Elliott Yamin, Fantasia and Amy Adams join previously announced international talent and sports figures Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart and Gloria Estefan. This is sure to be a high ratings night for American Idol.
