Celebrity Playlist: Rihanna's Favorite Songs

If there's any pop star who regularly delivers the raw, unfiltered goods on her Twitter, it's Rihanna. The Barbados-born singer does not hold back on just about anything, including what she's listening to at any given time. During a recent vacation to Hawaii, for example, the singer tweeted lyrics from her ex fling Drake's "Up All Night," shedding light on what must have been a relaxing afternoon.

Of course, Rihanna grew up listening to her pop predecessors. In a 2009 Fuse television interview she explained, "I used to listen to all the divas," namechecking Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Shania Twin, and Mariah Carey. "'Vision of Love is my favorite Mariah Carey song, but they all just seemed so powerful. I remember just watching the videos, and that's what really sold me."

These days, however, Rihanna's more into dancehall and hip-hop, judging by the songs she references on Twitter (truth be told, she quotes her own songs a lot). But she's also got a soft spot for rock—this is the woman who once listed Paramore as one of her favorite bands.

2Pac's "California Love"
Rihanna hasn't explicitly listed the late Tupac Shakur as one of her favorite artists, but she does have "Thug Life" inked across her knuckles in white. She shared a picture of her hasty decision with the caption, "All these b**ches screaming that 2pac back." Oh Rihanna, you're fun.

Vybz Kartel's "Tell You Say"
It's not hard to hear the dancehall influences on many of Rihanna's hits, including "Rude Boy" and "Man Down." The singer recently tweeted that she was listening to this track by Jamaica's most controversial dancehall artist, Vybz Kartel, who is currently in jail on murder charges relating to the July death of music promoter Barrington "Bossie" Burton and the August killing of Clive "Lizard" Williams.

Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"
Rihanna may be the only woman cool enough to rock gym shorts with stiletto sandals, but she's still got some geeky preferences. The singer recently tweeted lyrics from the chorus of this Diane Warren-penned rock ballad, leading some to speculate she was sending a sweet message to her ex-boyfriend, the ever-controversial Chris Brown.

Bob Marley's "Redemption Song"
In a 2007 interview, Rihanna proclaimed her love for this classic Bob Marley anthem: "Redemption Song is my all-time favorite. I actually performed that song when I went on world tour with Jay-Z. I performed that song the entire tour, every night, and in Africa they really, really loved it. They put all their lighters up and they were singing." Rihanna released her own cover in 2010 for charity.
